Happy St. Paddy's Day!

TSB we will be performing in the second DC round of the Emergenza Festival at Jammin' Java on May 16th at 10:30 PM. Tickets are $18 at the door and $12 in advance. Throw in an extra $5 and get your choice of a Slow Burn t-shirt or copy of our debut CD "Let's Do It!".

On Saturday, April 5th, me and the boys will be producing the Harmony Sweepstakes Mid-Atlantic Regional at The Birchmere. Then on Saturday, June 28th, we'll be returning to The Austin Grill in Silver Spring. Click on the Calendar link for more info on each of these events.

TSB Rocked the Monkey! - February 8, 2008

Thanks to all of our friends who joined us a The Brass Monkey in Baltimore on Saturday, 2/2! Special shout outs to Tonya and John, and to Heather for bringing friends! And thanks to Hannah and her husband and friend for representing for B-More! We had a great night and hope to return there soon!

A fabulous night in Old Town! - December 9, 2007

We played the Austin Grill in Old Town on Friday and it was undoubtedly the best Slow Burn show ever! We had been doing a lot of rehearsing and learning of new songs, and we were really raring to show off. We arrived at the venue at around 9 and started setting up. The logistics and the PA were a bit tricky, but we finally got started a little after 10. The crowd immediately started grooving to the music. Some of our friends were there, including Tamara, Beth and Ian, but for the most part, it was just the local crowd enjoying the tunes. As our first set wore on, people started to dance, and by about 11, just about everybody was boogeying! We took a short break and hit again at midnight. A real highlight was the singalong for "Last Kiss". Thanks to everyone who helped to make it a special night, including Adam, who sat in on harp on for few tunes, the Texas girls and the staff at the AG! We hope to be back again soon!

"Desire" featured on WMVY - October 4, 2007

"Desire" was recently added for inclusion on mvyradio.com's Local MusiCafe. WMVY is a great rock station out of Martha's Vineyard. I spent three Summers working on Nantucket and playing in a band, and MVY was always on - in the kitchen where I worked, on the transistor radio in my shared house or on my car radio! Here's the link: http://www.mvyradio.com/local_musicafe/index.php?target=recent.

The Slow Burn featured on XM Radio for the second time! - September 20, 2007

Tonight, DJ Billy Zero played "Drowning" on XMU (XM Radio Channel 43) on the "Radar Report", a show that features up and coming artists. He even said it was "pretty cool"!

In February, "(When We Get Bored) We Get Dangerous" was featured on the same program. Listen to the clip, including the comments of the DJs on our "Music" page.

And check out http://www.radiounsigned.com/index02.html to see our name in lights! Click on the "Archives" tab on the right and then on
the date 09.20.07.

Thanks to Taylor Simmons for promoting us at XM!

Best,
TD

brew.

Not Your Average Joe / CD Sale - May 29, 2007

Hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day! We had some family in town and we trekked out to Annapolis, MD, where we toured around and took a fantastic ride on the gorgeous schooner "Woodwind 2".

Here's a little Annapolis trivia for you: Besides being the capital of Maryland and the home of the US Naval Academy, did you know that Annapolis served as our nation's capital from 1783 to 1784?

Me neither!

But I digress... After an exhausting search process, we are delighted to announce that The Slow Burn has a new bass player! Please join us in welcoming Joe Loftus!

Here's Joe on Joe: "Joe Loftus, a Washington area native, has been playing bass guitar and other various instruments for a number of years. In the '80's Joe played way too many eighth notes with various wave bands. In the '90's Joe played with a schizo meta-physical group called Joe Loftus & Sacred Ground, playing the alternative everything circuit with just the right dash of melodrama. In the '00's Joe has returned to the DC music scene from utter obscurity to lay down some funk for The Slow Burn."

To celebrate our new lineup, and just 'cuz, we are having a late Spring sale on our debut CD "Let's Do It!" We're lowering the price from $15 to $10 (plus S&H) for the month of June, so make your move now! Just click on the "BUY" link to your left.

Look for us to announce some shows in the June/July timeframe.

All the best,
Ted Donat

Farewell to a Friend - April 27, 2007

Well, I've been putting this post off for too long. I guess it's time to face the music, as it were. It is with a heavy heart and a moistened cheek that we must bid adieu to our brother and friend Dennis "Den Dog" Feeney.

Over the past two years, Dennis has been instrumental in shaping the unique sound that The Slow Burn has forged. His virtuosity has been in strong evidence in our live shows and on our debut album "Let's Do It!".

And of course, with Dennis go some of our best songs, from the rousing rave up "(When We Get Bored) We Get Dangerous," to "Mama's Workin' for the Man," one of our strongest tunes, to the epic "Song of Hope," a frequent closer.

Dennis is hands down the best bass player it has been my privilege to play with in the 25 years that I have been playing in bands. His grasp and mastery of a panoply of styles is unparalleled, from rock to jazz, from reggae to funk. It is no understatement to say that Dennis will be sorely missed.

So why is Dennis leaving the fold, you may well ask? Suffice it to say that Dennis' muse was calling him in a direction that The Slow Burn could not follow, and we didn't want to stand in his way. Like Sting said, "If you love someone, set them free." So we are letting Dennis go to pursue his singular vision. We fully expect great things from him.

We remain close friends and huge fans, and we will support him in all of his musical endeavors. Look for news of his goings on on these pages and at www.myspace.com/dennisfeeney and at http://cdbaby.com/cd/feeney. Dennis will always be a friend of The Slow Burn.

Meanwhile, we are actively seeking a bass player to fill Dennis' big shoes, so if you know of anyone, please let us know!

So let's raise a frosty one to our compadre, our brother, our muchacho - Big D., the Den Dog, Mr. Dennis Feeney.

Farewell, brother!

-Ted Donat on behalf of The Slow Burn
